Wildland Fire Education Conference – Backyards and Beyond

The National Fire Protection Association’s Backyards & Beyond conference brings together a diverse audience of leading wildfire experts, Firewise community representatives, community planners, civic leaders, homeowners and residents, insurance professionals, landscape architects and others, and offers attendees a chance to network with like-minded professionals and share best-practices that they can take back to their communities and workplaces. A pre-conference workshop, "Assessing Wildfire Hazards in the Home Ignition Zone", will be offered November 12 – 13 with instructors, Jack Cohen, Physical Research Scientist, USDA Forest Service, and Pat Durland, President and Wildland Fire Consultant, Stone Creek Fire.

Wildland Urban Interface Conference:
March, 24, 2012 – Oahu, HI
The annual WUI conference held in Reno, Nevada is one of the largest meetings of fire managers across the U.S. Here, the PFSC was unveiled to greater fire management community as a new and important presence in the Pacific. This convention also demonstrated the latest in fire research, technologies, and equipment.

The 2011 Fire Science Workshop was held at the U.S. Forest Service, Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry, in Hilo, HI.
The experts and technologies present at this workshop are on the forefront of global fire sciences. Presentations on fire risk modeling, prediction, imaging and mapping led the way through the workshop's proceedings.

The Pacific Fire Science Consortium officially announced it's first round of funding and held meetings on plans for future direction and development.
